Of Spire & Throne - Toll Of The Wound

Toll Of The Wound

First thing that comes into mind when “Toll of the Wound” begins? You’re really going to need to be into your Doom and Sludge.

You can definitely tell who their influences are especially during the slow drum beats and heavy intro into “Cascading Shard”BLACK SABBATH. Despite having the noticeable influence by one of the biggest Heavy Metal bands in the world, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to be a fan of OF SPIRE & THRONE.

It’s a sure thing that the band are heavy and pretty serious about their music and yeah maybe it’s possible to actually listen to them if you’re on a different planet. There may be disagreements from people out there who are into their Doom and Sludge and ‘chilled out heavy music’ – yet as I stated, you’re going to need to really love those styles in order to grasp the feel for these guys. Having said that, I will point out that these guys are talented in what they do.

Overall, for once, I don’t have a great deal to say on these guys – maybe it’s because the release is only 3 songs long and each one doesn’t have much change to it or ‘excitement’ to it. It’s a possibly good release but you will need to be a dedicated lover for Doom and Sludge, if you’re not into those genres then this isn’t for you.
