Siniestro - Vortexx Award winner

Siniestro
Vortexx

Since the resurrection of Metal Punk, many bands are trying to recreate the genre, some being successful on their efforts, others failing miserably due the lack of an inner identity. But when identity and courage are enough, anything is possible, as SINIESTRO, from Sweden, proofs on their latest release, “Vortexx”.

They’re into a Thrash/Black Metal form in Metal Punk, so their work could be traced to the German School, right? Totally wrong, because the duet works on a format that mixes influences from Swedish Thrash Metal in a way similar to RAISE HELL, but in an uncompromised and nasty way. But the duet knows how to use some melodies to temper its music (as can be heard clearly on “Blod Eld Död”). And the band doesn’t seems outdated in any moment, but can explode ears easily! Dino Medanhodzic did the recording, engineering and mixing of the album, leaving the mastering to the hands of Christopher Göthberg. And their efforts created something that bears the energy and crudeness of the past, but with a modern and defined sonority that allows everyone to understand what they are trying to express.

Beware to not be knocked down by their music, because they seem to come to destroy. And they can do it, as can be heard on “One Last Bullet One Last Ride” (a fast and furious song that unleashes a storm of energy with very good guitars), “Vortex” (another fast and brutal song, with a simple technical work, but with very good bass guitar and drums rhythmic parts), “Blod Eld Död” (an unusual song, filled with a set of melancholic melodies and a great work on the vocals can be heard as well), “Black Acid Rain” (that bears the Swedish Thrash/Black Metal trademarked sound), “Den Svartaste Flamman Och Renaste Hat” (this one is nearer some early Hardcore/Punk Rock songs, with accessible melodies), and “Anti Human Commando” (this song is amazing, because the good technical work and the contrasts of musical ambiences made nine minutes seems as nine seconds) are the best one for a first time in their work.

Yes, SINIESTRO deserves to be heard and enjoyed by all Metal fans. Take a listen to “Vortexx” and understand what these words mean.
